Ties - Inclass 02

Ties - Inclass 02
Task 1
Break into small groups (2) and discuss/do the following.


On scratch paper, draw a bulls-eye with cohort 5 as the center (strong ties). Think of examples of groups that would be considered as weak ties, potential ties and no ties in relation to your group. Place them on your bulls-eye.


Your inclass 2 deliverable:


Then, using Google Draw and shared with your partner and me, create a bullseye with your department shown as a 'close tie' group. Identify other groups in your bullseye, e.g., weak ties, potential ties, no ties. Think about and clearly identify these groups. How do they relate to you and your department/organization?  Do you see value in including them in your organization's business strategy and plans? Describe how you interact with these groups at work. What tools Could you use?


Individually, summarize your conclusions in the 'comments' section of the blog for inclass 2.  Create a hyperlink to your 'bullseye' drawing and place below your post comments.

    1. In the strength ties we have sales team working and sharing idea every day, for the service department we have weak ties, after that for the administration we have potential ties, at the end with the other branches we have no ties.

  5. Normally in the strength ties, i have my project team who aer directly work with me and the prject sponser and steerco. while for weak ties, there are people in other departments that are not working directly with me and those people are normally operational people.
    I have potential people in the project those are people who are abroad in the organization and worked on the project in past. finally I have none ties people who are around plant community and city.

    Stronge tie:
    Strategic planning and customer loyalty is the department i am working in
    Weak tie:
    All the stratigic idea need to be shared with engineering planning for implementation then Finance to finance the project and collect profits later then sales to sale it
    Potential tie:
    Engineering field support's input might be beneficial for us since they visit customers and interact with them face to face
    No tie:
    Students in business department in universities might have inovating ideas that will help ading value in to the business

  16. Realtions at work usually has both positive and negative sides, and as far as professional side is concerned, any realation that otriginated from work place should be prevented from affecting the professional activities at working time.

  17. I think this tool with circles, and classifying the people who we're interacting with on daily basis, then less, till no-tie, let me think why those people are so close, or so weak connection, may be we can get some benefits and improvement from getting this connection better.

    Its a wonderful tool, its adding value, and may be changing direction.

  22. I work in the HR Function (Recruitment department)

    Strong Tie: Are our team, my team members, corporate HR team
    Weak tie: Are the drilling department which according to the nature of their work are very difficult to follow the process and procedures
    Potential Tie: Are the contractor recruitment agencies and other HR companies,
    None: is the community who are not related to our organization

  23. Im working in HR in Travel section, the strength tie people are my team members, then the people who are working for HR in other departments then in the second steps finance people comes.

    in my organization the strongest tie is architectural department iam as an architect have the strongest tie with architectural department , structural design department has a weak tie with me as they related in design work but not so much , my potential tie is client and contractors which they are related to me but not so much and the last group is non tie group which is designers in other industries so if we could include non tie group which is other designers i think that they can contribute in creativity in design and help in developing our designs further.

My Strong ties are with my co worker in my same field which is Construction engineer dep. so we see eachother most of the day and discuss things together, we go out together, my weak ties are with my other co workers working in other engineering dep. we discuss things about work daily in case of consulting eachother, my potential ties are with my other emloyees like warehouse, administration , we see them rarely and never discuss personal things, and i personally have no ties with suppliers who supply us for contruction materials we just see them bring stuffs and that's all
    i think it's necessarry to make good ties with all through meetings .

  26. In strength tie i have
    1- Strong Tie: including employees who work with me in marketing department (ex product mangers)
    2-Weak Tie: Including employees who work in other department of same company as Sales department, i need to make this relation more stronge so i can got full feedback from market abpout my Marketing startgey, and accordingly i can change or update my strategy according to that feedback.
    3-Potential Tie: including customers to our pharmaceutical product, that i dont have too little realtion with them but even some time their feedback is good.
    4-None tie: Employees in other comapnies

  27. I am a Projects Manager, We have several projects underconstruction, i have a strong tie with my engineers, surveyors and also the empolyers. The weak tie is between our employer's representatives supervisng daily construction progress and i have a potentioal tie with company's general administrations and purchasing departments but i have a no tie with suppliers.

In the strengh tie, i have the employees that works with me in the same department.In week tie includes those employees that work in the other departments.while potential ties includes those people for example HR managers of other companies that we work with them. FInally in none i have those people lives in the same community.

    strong ties
    I have my project team who are directly work with me, and we cotrol many issues as a team building, rather than I have strong relationship with them familes.
    weak tie:
    I have weak link with other dept. because of differt skills.
    potential tie:
    in the work those are people who are always abroad in the office and they do not finish them duties

  32. Legal department is a supportive unit in the organization and supporting and offering facilitating to others department to perform their role in compliance with the local law and organization polices.

    In this regards we are strongly linked with departments such as HR, finance and purchasing… in other hand we are less connected with operation and production unit…

  33. i am workin in BMW group in sales department, my job in this company to how increase fleet sales i means create relationship with goverment and companies in order to sell vehicles to them,and famileries our company also send qoatation by email about our offers.

  34. I have many strong ties in my department as I'm working in supply chain department so normaly our daily relation should be with finance, Purchasing, sales, marketing ...etc and
    Weak Ties as its mention in the drawing we don’t have a lot of interaction with HR, administration..... , weak ties with eng then we have no ties with community

  35. CONSLUSION:

    In my organization i have the closest contact with the engineering staff, but a weaker tie with the marketing department, we still do have contact since all the changes and additional information is with the architects which is important for marketing, a potential contact with the accounting department since we only see them once a month hhhh, and no contact whatsoever with the drivers of the heavy machinery.

    Iam wroking in administration sector and i have strong tie with my employees, and a weak tie with sales sector and a potential tie with store sector also None tie with nobodyelse

  39. In the strong tie group I usually deal with the lawyers who have same expertise and a significant knowledge on specific cases that I represent.
    In the weak ties I deal with Judges, clerks and court officers.
    In the potential ties I rarely deal with governmental officers of other directorates.
    Regarding No Ties, clients of other lawyers can be considered as those who have no ties with me.

As an Admissions Officer working at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani, my office has a very close relation with internal departments which calls as tie group, the potential group is the Ministry of Higher Education MoHE and high school teachers and high school students/graduates. The community like employees of other academic institutions can be called as non-tie group.

    i am executive manager ,managerial department is the strongest tie to me employee of the logistic department is weak tie to me potential tie is our suppliers the other companies that is doing the same work like us are the none tie group so i f we could integrate with the none tie group we could increase profitability of our work ...
